Work package B1

Professionals’ Conceptualisations of Risk and Vulnerabilities

This work package explores how students in different jurisdictions come to be seen as “at risk” by different agencies: Schools, Youth Justice, Children’s Services and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

It examines the coherence and consistency in the ways in which criteria operate to inform policies and practices that reduce risk and vulnerability both within and between different agencies.

The purpose of the work package is to understand the place of exclusion in the range of strategies that schools and other agencies adopt and to contribute to our understanding of the ways in which special needs and disability, mental health and criminal activity can be both the cause and consequence of school exclusion.
