Work package A3
The landscape of public, private and third sector provision
This work package explores how the landscape of support and provision for young people who are excluded from school, or who are deemed at-risk of exclusion, varies across the four jurisdictions of the UK.
In particular, it examines the availability of in-school and out-of-school provision – often referred to as ‘Education Otherwise than at School’ (EOTAS) or Alternative Provision (AP). In addition to undertaking an audit of provision at national, local authority and school level, this work-package will collect data on the efficacy of this provision as perceived by policy-makers, professionals and the young people themselves.
These data will be collected throughout the duration of the research and enable cross-national comparisons that can illuminate the relative strengths and weaknesses of public, private and third sector approaches and provision.
